Genetically Similar.
What does it mean?

Genetic similarity is a way to measure family resemblance between the NFTs using a "distance" measurement. A lower distance number means their traits are more closely related, while a larger distance number means they are more different.

GEEK STUFF

How do you calculate similarity?

Each gene is represented as a dimension. On that dimension, the traits of that gene are stored, ordered by visual similarity.  For example, the weapons gene will have a gold shoulder sword, next to a silver shoulder sword, but far away from a bow and arrow. Each NFT has a Chromosome, which is a list of all gene dimensions. We compare each NFT to each other and calculate the linear distance.  The lowest number is the most similar, and the highest is the most different.

RELATIONSHIP

How does Similarity & Score relate?

Similarity does not necessarily impact its overall uniqueness score. The Score is based on Rarity of a trait while the distance measures how similar it looks to other traits. Example, Gold and silver swords look similar, but rarity comes into play. If there are only 2 gold swords versus 2,000 silver ones, the gold sword is much rarer, despite their similar appearance. If you compare a silver sword with a bow & arrow, they might have a higher distance score. If they both have 2,000 in the population, they're equally common.

FUTURE

What happens when scores are low but distance is high?

This situation is quite interesting. When the NFT looks different but the score is low, it means there are many NFTs that also look unique like this, forming a big group. This could be the start of something new, like a group of NFTs that look alike becoming their own tribe. As more NFTs appear that share this unique look, they could form their own special group with its own identity and story, almost like creating a new family within the digital world.
